About
“I was always intrigued by writing systems and ancient cultures and/or religions. I was actually doing a major in Linguistics and a minor in Religious Studies until one fine day—nearing the end of my program—I came to realize that Chomskyan linguistics does not care much for writing systems. Long story short, I ended up switching my minor into a major and completed an Honours B.A. as well as an M.A. in Religious Studies (both at the University of Ottawa). For my M.A., I presented a thesis combining my interests for writing systems and ancient cultures, entitled Indus Epigraphic Perspectives: Exploring Past Decipherment Attempts & Possible New Approaches (2013) [M.A., University of Ottawa, Religious Studies. Supervisor: Adele Reinhartz]. In this same vein, my Deciphering the Proto-Sinaitic Script (2017) also combines the topics of writing systems and ancient cultures. My hope is that my new book provides a better understanding of the proto-Sinaitic inscriptions as well as a new way of looking at the formation of proto-Judaism.”
